Jumma the sixth day of the Islamic week, is very significant to Muslims all around the world due to Jumma (Friday prayer). This is a day for communal introspection, prayer, and spiritual rebirth.. In Islam, Friday is a day of worship and devotion to Allah in addition to being a day off from labor. Here are 12 fundamental Jumma rituals that Muslims should follow to deepen their spirituality.
1. Early Preparation and Ghusl
Jumma's importance starts even before the sun rises. It is advised to start getting ready early for this fortunate day. Prior to entering the mosque for Friday prayers, Muslims should practise Ghusl, a sort of ceremonial purification. Ghusl represents spiritual purification in addition to physical purification.
Hadit comes in SAhi MUSLIM about faith
Muhammed PBUH sayings as 'cleanliness is half of faith'
Here is Hadith about Jumma,
"It was narrated on the authority of Hazrat Salman Farsi, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “Whoever performs ghusl on Friday and cleans himself as much as he can, and applies oil from his own oil and perfumes from his household, then (for prayer) ) if he goes out (comes to the mosque), then he should not enter between them, then he should pray as many prayers as are in his destiny (i.e. Sunnah, Nafil) and remain silent when the imam is delivering the sermon, then from this Friday to the next Friday. His sins will be forgiven."
(Bukhari, Vol. I, Kitab Al-Jamaa, Hadith No. 838)
2. Participating in the Group Prayers
For Muslim men, participating in the Friday congregational prayers is required. It is a special chance for the neighbourhood to come together, building unity and solidifying ties. This custom has its origins in the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) teachings, which emphasised the significance of participating in Friday prayers.
Allah says in Quran for JUMMA prayers,
"O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salat (prayer) on the day of Friday (Jumu'ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allah [Jumu'ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salat (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing), that is better for you if you did but know!"
3. Dressing in Your Best and Cleanest
Clothes
On Jumma, it is recommended to wear the best clothing you can afford and to dress neatly. Muslims honour and revere this holy day and the act of worship they are performing, as shown by this custom.
4. Surah Al-Kahf recitation
On Fridays, Surah Al-Kahf, a portion of the Quran, has a special significance. Reciting this surah on Fridays is part of the Prophet's Sunnah (tradition), as it provides wisdom and examples that apply to issues we face today.
5-Sending Blessings to the Prophet
A blessing of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has many advantages. Although saluting the Prophet is encouraged frequently among Muslims, Friday is a crucial day to do it.
6. Performing Dua (Supplication)
The day of Jumma is one of great benevolence and blessings from Allah. On this day, Muslims are urged to offer sincere dua in which they seek mercy, guidance, and blessings for their selves and their loved ones.
7. Participating in the Khutbah (Sermon)
Before the group prayers on Fridays, the imam gives a sermon known as khutbah. It acts as a reminder of the ideals, morality, and principles of Islam. Jumma experience must include attentively listening to the khutbah and considering its meaning.
8. praying according to the Sunnah and the
Nafl
Muslims are urged to offer supplementary Sunnah and Nafl prayers on Fridays in addition to the required Friday prayers. These extra prayers increase one's connection to Allah and give the opportunity to get additional spiritual blessings.
9. Studying and Pondering the Quran
The time of Jumma is ideal for reading the Quran. Spend some time today reading, reflecting, and thinking about the Quran's lessons. This routine encourages a closer relationship with the divine message.
"Once the prayer is over, disperse throughout the land and seek the bounty of Allah. And remember Allah often so you may be successful."
10.Performing Deeds of Kindness
In Islam, generosity and charitable deeds are highly valued. On Jumma, think of supporting a good cause, giving to charity, or providing aid to people in need. Giving enables heart purification and wins Allah's favour.
11. Recalling Allah
On Jumma, perform dhikr, or remember Allah. Make supplications, ask for forgiveness, and recite tasbih (praise). This ritual purifies the heart and brings one nearer to the All-Powerful.
12. Visiting Family Earlier Than Expected
It is advised to head home early after Friday prayers. Islamic teachings place a strong emphasis on family time, exchanging lessons from khutbahs, and fostering family ties.
Conclusion
Jumma is a holy day that gives Muslims a chance to come together for worship, introspection, and fellowship. The Jumma experience can be improved, and the spiritual connection can be strengthened, by including these twelve key practises into one's daily routine. Each ritual—from early preparation to congregational prayers to charitable deeds to going home to one's family—contributes to a successful and spiritually gratifying Jumma.
